heater and a/c

"I have a 1990 NA, which does NOT have the adjustable settings (feet, feet/body, body/window, etc). It has an "Auto" feature, which was supposed to blow air through ALL vents." When I set it to a temperature, no air blows out and the only thing that works is the rear window defroster... the heat and the a/c doesnt work when i set it to a temperature and the front defroster doesnt work also. but at RANDOM times it would just turn on and run perfectly for a few minutes and shut off. it just started happening recently. before whenever i turned it on, it would just blow hard and wouldnt turn off on me. anyone know why this happens?

I had something similiar happen to me. Troubleshooted and didn't find any problems.....so i decided to switch out the actual control and everything worked fine afterwards. Try it if you have a spare control...see if thats the problem

Oh, and the control module I removed had moisture in it... which I am guessing caused it to mal-function (sp)
