smoke/cutting out 1991 twin

I have a question that im sure somebody knows the answer, i purchased a 1991 yellow twin with 112,000 on ebay..the owner told me that the car smokes under full throttle,and bogs down, im sure it could be a number of things, but any suggestion as to what to look at first?owner says the car sat for awhile and the strainer in the fuel pump has trash in it..make sense? he also said the car did not smoke when he drove it everyday as a driver..now car is setting..he said he drove it last week for about an hour and it ran good but will smoke and bog down...i wanted to pick up the car this week and drive it home(around 400 miles)he thinks i need to tow the car..if anybody has any suggestions, i would appreciate it..

If its blowing blue smoke, the turbos are likely bad.

Any uncertianty, I'd haul the car. 400 miles is a walk with a truck and trailer. Just make sure you got good tires and a couple spares for the trailer.

That would be a nice idea to hear. Though I am really planning to change my tires too & I am currently reading other threads here for tips.
